μλ νμΈμ
Pronunciation: annyeonghaseyo
English: Hello
This is the most common polite greeting in Korean.
You can use μλ νμΈμ when meeting someone for the first time, greeting a store employee, talking to a stranger, or simply saying hello to someone you know.
It works in many everyday situations.

μλ
Pronunciation: annyeong
English: Hi / Bye
μλ is a casual greeting.

It can mean both βHiβ and βBye.β

English: Goodbye
This one can be confusing for beginners because it also means βGoodbye.β
The difference is simple:

ν κ°μΈμ
β The other person is leaving.
μλ
ν κ³μΈμ
β You are leaving.
Easy way to remember:
κ°μΈμ = Go
κ³μΈμ = Stay
So if you leave, say:
μλ ν κ³μΈμ.
If the other person leaves, say:
μλ ν κ°μΈμ.
